Overview
The emergency department (ED) at Syosset Hospital sees nearly 18,000 patients a year. It has a designated trauma unit and eight treatment beds. As a community hospital, we care for all routine emergency and urgent care conditions. We’re staffed by board-certified/board-eligible emergency physicians, dedicated emergency medicine nurses and certified physician assistants who are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide many advanced programs and resources to ensure that you get state-of-the-art care for virtually any illness or injury.
For serious conditions requiring a higher level of care, seamless transportation is available from Syosset Hospital to the most appropriate Northwell hospital by our ambulance service.

Our ED is located at 221 Jericho Turnpike in Syosset. When turning into hospital lot from Jericho Turnpike, go straight, following the red emergency sign. After the first stop sign, you’ll see the ED on the left.

The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association awarded us for high-performance stroke care. This recognizes our commitment and success in ensuring patients receive the most appropriate treatment per nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
What we offer
- Board-certified emergency physicians: Patients who come to our ED are diagnosed and treated by board-certified emergency physicians, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Primary stroke center certified by New York state: Our ED has the most advanced equipment and highly trained medical staff to provide state-of-the-art care to patients suffering from ischemic strokes (the most common type) and hemorrhagic strokes. Receiving expert treatment for strokes can mean the difference between life and death.
- Syosset Hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award—which we have received for the past four years—recognizes the hospital's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care to ensure that patients receive treatment in accordance with the latest evidence-based guidelines.
- 911 receiving hospital: We are a 911 receiving hospital for both police and voluntary ambulance services in Nassau County.
- Acute care surgery: This is a combination of trauma surgery, surgical critical care and emergency general surgery.
